Young London's Self Titled Album Review
I will be reviewing Young Londons self titled album.
Matt and Sarah of Young London began writing music together in 2011. They quickly realized that their writing styles combined to form a unique, catchy electro-pop style. After their explosive debut at South by Southwest, they headed into the studio to start working on their first full-length album. With the direction of producer Mark Maxwell (Blake Lewis, Boys Like Girls), Young London completed their self-titled debut, to be released January 10th, 2012. The songs could be described as 90′s throwback–as if Danny Tanner invited Daft Punk over for dinner.
The album is combination of electro pop and dance as well as some rap here and there on the album.
It’s a truly unique album with this type of music its usually instrumental, however with this it has mixed dual vocals as well as having a lot of upbeat songs. The songs are a mix of rock and some rap.
“Dangerous” is a track that stands out off the album, it seems like the background track is similar to that of Mindless Self Indulgence. The dual vocals are perfectly timed with the song and really make the song what it is.
The song “The Good Stuff” defiantly has a summer type of vibe to it and is one of the songs that would describe just hanging out and chilling with friends. Come the summer this will defiantly be one of the anthem songs for the summer, in my opinion.
Overall I would rate this album 3.5/5. The album itself is a good combo of different genres of music and the dual vocals also adds to catchiness of the album, especially with having Matt And Sarah switch vocal duties as if in some songs as they are having a conversation. This album is a catchy one and really grows on you and listening to it, makes you want to get up and dance to it while listening to it.
